Reglan Linked to Involuntary Twitching

Posted on December 10th, 2009 No Comments

A woman in Florida says her son’s twitch is due to his use of the prescription drug Reglan.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said “when he was little, he was put on Reglan because he has a lot of acid reflux problems… Now he is seven. He does these things where he’ll put his hands up and twitch them. Doctors tell us that it is normal and he’ll grow out of it but I’ve never seen this before. When he gets excited, he makes these grimacing faces that I’ve never seen a child make.”

In February 2009 the United States Food and Drug Administration ordered the makers of Reglan to place a black label warning on the drug. Studies have shown that the gastro-esophageal reflux medicine is linked to Dyskinesia, involuntary movement of the limbs.
